Dave has been the lead pastor at First Baptist Portales since July 2006. He and his wife, Donna, have three grown children, each of whom is married. Their oldest son, Josh, and his wife, Tiffany, live in Austin, Texas. The next oldest, Jeff, and his wife, Laura, live in New Braunfels, Texas. They have three daughters, Esmee, Emma, and Echo (the youngest member of the family); and one son, Enoch. Their youngest, Jill, lives in Wichita, Kansas with her husband, Jeremy, and her three sons, Max, Beaux, and Jaxon.

Donna teaches school in Muleshoe at DeShazo Elementary, where she teaches 4th grade English Language Arts. Donna leads a Connection Group at 10:45 a.m.

Dave has been pastoring local churches for over 40 years. He holds both a master's and doctorate degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is an online professor for Rockbridge Seminary and for the religion department at Eastern New Mexico University.

Dave and Donna enjoy spending time with each other, their kids, and grandkids, doing yardwork, going to movies, and eating out - especially at Juanito's in Portales every Thursday night.

Garnet and his wife, Misty, have a son, Samuel, who is a high schooler; and an "adopted" son, Rashad, who is "out of the nest." he and his wife, Misty, are also foster parents. Misty serves as our church's Financial Secretary.

Garnet was called on August 28, 2016 and began his service with FBC on September 18th that same year.

Sara joined the staff in December of 2014.  She is a New Mexico native, originally from Albuquerque. She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a degree in Elementary Education. She also holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership as well as a certificate in Early Childhood Education from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California. She has served in children’s ministry leadership for 8 years.  She enjoys working with and ministering to children and their families and is excited to be serving at First Baptist! When she gets the chance, she loves to spend time with her family in Albuquerque, especially her sister and her two nephews, Wyatt & Jackson.

John is an airman, serving at Cannon Air Force base and serves as a volunteer staff member. He is taking online classes with Liberty University and hails from Little Rock, Arkansas. John is married to Kristan. they have one daughter, Kendall.

Wayne and his wife, Becky (who is one of our musicians and plays the piano) live in Clovis. Both are retired from Clovis ISD.  For several years, Wayne was the administrator of the music program for the Clovis school district. Wayne leads our Celebration Worship and directs our Worship Choir and musicians. He also leads our annual Christmas and Easter programs, which are among the best attended services we have at FBC each year.

Ron and Vicki have led our Celebrate Recovery ministry since January 2017. God has used them in wonderful ways to build a great leadership team and an effective program involving several people in dealing with their hurts, habits, and hang-ups.

Elva and her husband, Chris, have lived in the Portales area for 18 years. They are both members of Calvary Baptist Church. Chris has been a manager at Dairy Farmers of America for 4 years. They have no children, but they do have two "fur babies" that they love dearly. 

Liz has attended FBC for over a year now, participating in Celebrate Recovery, weekly worship and Connection Group. She is the mother of three adult children: Gabriel, Mariah, and Kaleigh. She is also the proud grand-mother of Layla Elizabeth! Liz is a licensed cosmotologist, and before coming to work for FBC, she cut hair for 25 years. Liz enjoys being outdoors, walking in the evenings, working in her yard, and helping her mother-in-law in her florwer garden. She loves spending time with her family.

Ronnie is married to Linda. they have two daughters, Kaleigh and Kelsey. Ronnie also serves as a Deacon.
